Jesus dangled unlimited possibilities before the
desire of His disciples saying to them in Mark 11:23-24 (Message Bible),
“Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for
you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, ‘Go jump in the lake … and it’s as good as done."
and in verse 24 “Whatever you desire when you pray, believe you receive it and you will have it.” Our only limitation is what we believe. Don’t be afraid to seek the Lord; it is His desire to do great things through you and through me. Even if you fail at times, and you willdon’t quit. Keep moving forward. Never say, “I can’t do it.” Scale the mountain! Don’t run! Step out from behind the veil of uncertainty. Crawl out from under the covers of rationalization. God does miraclestoday and everyday. He does not change. You have never tested God’s resources until you have attempted the impossible.
How can we do the impossible? Follow Christ’s example. The miracle life of
the Lord was simply a reflection of His private time with God. Jesus spent
thirty years getting ready for God to work through Him. He prepared Himself
by walking in fellowship with His Heavenly Father and developing a
relationship of intimacy with Him.
E. Stanley Jones said, “The only thing we really believe in is the thing we
believe in enough to act upon.” Mark 11:23-24 outlines a process that begins
with desire. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires
of your heart (Psalm 37:4). As we delight ourselves in God He places His
desires in us. Mountain moving faith grows out of the relationship we
develop with the Lord. Desire fuels action. When desire motivates us towards
prayer and communion with the Lord, we will experience the power of God at
work in our lives (2 Corinthians 13:14). Faith is not a one-night stand. We
gain faith through God’s promises and put it into action through prayer. For
more than three years Jesus spent 24 hours a day with His disciples,
preparing them and shaping their lives. Let’s see—three years is 1095 days
or 26,280 hours—minus time for sleeping—the disciples did sleep. They slept
when they should have prayed, but Jesus never gave up on them.
You can develop mountain moving faith one step at a time. Fight doubt. Doubt
limits what what we think God can do in us and what we can do through Him. Spend time with
the Lord. Feed your spiritual desire with God’s Word. Learn to be led by the
Holy Spirit. And when you sleep through an opportunity, get up and move to
the next one Jesus provides (Matthew 26:36-46). He will not quit on you.
"Faith is confidence in God’s faithfulness to me in an uncertain world, on an uncharted course, through an unknown future." (Pamela Reeve)
