"Love received and love given comprise the best form of therapy." (Gordon William)

Jesus defined the "Law of Love" in His famous "golden rule". In the Message Bible version of this topic Jesus said, "Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God's Law and Prophets and this is what you get". (Matthew 7:12). The apostle Paul echoed this principle when he wrote: "The entire law is summed up in a single command: Love your neighbor as yourself" (Galatians 5:14). These biblical passages express the heart and soul of all of God's laws and is a guide for our actions and interaction with others.

Below is a wonderful poem written by Audrey Hepburn. She expressed this principle when she was asked to share her "beauty tips." It was read at her funeral years later.

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands; one for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.

"This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him". (1 John 4:9 NIV )
