Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s future. And we are all mortal (John F. Kennedy)

Acts 17:28-29 says that we are the offspring of God—we were conceived from one seed. If we were all conceived from one seed then why are we so different? Humanity is a reflection of the multifaceted glory, greatness and diversity of God. Look at light—it is transparent, and yet composed of an array of distinct colors. Psalms 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky His handiwork.” Under the skin humanity is the same. Our differences are simply a reflection of God's greatness. We are one and our true nationality is mankind (H. G. Wells).

If we are the offspring of God; and God is love, than why is there so much turmoil in the world? The moral, physical and social evils plaguing society today are the result of us being out of harmony with our purpose. Herman Melville declared, “We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with humanity; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.” Our actions are causes. When humanity rebelled against the law of God it affected us adversely—disorder was birthed in our hearts and in the world around us. We became self centered, allowing our differences to divide us. The universe is governed by the law of God. We can have order and tranquility in our lives only by walking with God. Peace results when we walk in harmony with the principles that govern life. We reap what we sow—it's the law.

You may call for peace as loudly as you wish, but where there is no brotherhood there can in the end be no peace (Max Lerner). We can end the war that is raging in our bodies and in our hearts through a personal relationship with God. We can end the destructive process that works in our lives. David wrote in Psalms 103:1-5, “Bless the Lord, Oh my soul...and forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases. Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.”
