The Pledge of Allegiance

														The original pledge was:
I pledge allegiance to my flag
and the Republic for which it stands,
													one nation indivisible
with liberty and justice for all.
In 1924 the National Flag Conference, under the leadership of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion, changed the words of the Pledge to "the flag of the United States of America." In 1954 the words "under God" were added by an act of Congress.
I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of American
and the Repubic for which it stands
													one nation under God
													indivisible
with liberty and justice for all.
