An age is called Dark, not because the light fails to shine, but because people refuse to see it (James A. Michener)

The Bible declares in Proverbs 29:18, Where there is no revelation of God [vision] the people perish [or cast off restraint]. So how does one obtain revelation and vision? Isaac Newton said, "If I have seen further, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants." As we seek the wisdom of God and study His word, we figuratively find ourselves standing on the shoulders of a giant, the God of creation. From that vantage point, God imparts to us the ability to see. He removes the spiritual cataracts from our eyes. As we turn towards God, He reveals Himself to us. "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." (Marcel Proust). John 15:4 says, Abide in me [Jesus], as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in me. As we abide in Christ just like a branch abides in a tree, we are given eyes that see.

We need not strive and strain to develop vision; it comes as a by product of our fellowship with God.  A tree, connected to the earth by its roots, derives minerals and nourishment from the soil. Life and vitality flow through this union. A tree does not exert itself in producing fruit; it simply reaches into the earth and allows life giving sustenance to run into it. The Holy Spirit seeps into our lives as we reach out to God and our life produces fruit as we partake of His life and nature.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalms 91:1). It was Oswald Chambers who said the secret place of the Most High is located in that place where we are one with God and He is one with us. It is through our faith in God that the roots of our heart reach into the life of God and we become one with Him. We become like the man in John 9:25 who said..."one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see." His nature is imparted and we receive vision, a revelation of God and a vision from God.
