One’s own thought is one’s world. What a person thinks is what he becomes (Maitri Upanishad, 1,000 B.C.)

God created us in His image, endowing humanity with a wonderful quality of His being called thought and imagination. He imparted this piece of His person in us so we would use it in being creative and inventive for Him. William James said, “Thinking determines life.” All was good until we began to think and act independently of God’s will for us. Sin entered the picture and adversely impacted our minds. The brain then became subject to the oppressive forces of the devil through disobedience (Ephesians 6:10-18).

“Thoughts have power; thoughts are energy. And you can make your world or break it by your own thinking,” (Susan Taylor). Your brain produces energy from what you feed it. It constantly oscillates and moves, creating either negative or positive power in your life. Our thoughts and emotions are connected, so what happens in one area of our being makes an impact on other areas. The Bible in Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does good like a medicine.” Wholesome thoughts affect our health in a good way. Unwholesome thinking has an adverse affect on our fitness. Earl Nightingale said, “We are shaped by our thoughts. We become what we think.” People who live spiritual lives are energized and controlled by the desires of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:5). As we meditate on God’s Word and seek Him in prayer our thoughts are affected, generating godliness, peace and joy in our lives. Feed the mental and emotional appetite of your imagination with good encouraging things (Psalms 1:2; Joshua 1:8; Philippians 4:8; Isaiah 26:3). Eva Arrington said, “You live with your thoughts—so be careful what they are.” Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:23).

The Miracle of sight must be among the most awesome wonders of life. The delicate mechanism of the eye is astounding. Yet it is not really what you see with. Your brain is what sees. But what could be even a greater Miracle is that when you close your eyes you can see with your minds-eye…which is unlimited. You have the ability to see in different ways Your brain receives the image of what materially appears before your eyes. An idea, a concept, a thought… a dream of your future is something you see with your mind--a mental picture. Be like Thomas Edison. Someone asked him how he gave the world so many inventions. He said, "Because I never think in words, I think in pictures." Get a clear VISION --a picture in your mind of the remarkable and unique YOU which God has created, with unlimited potential to accomplish the dream he designed in you. Norman Vincent Peale says, “You are not what you think you are, but what you think—you are.
