Ian R. Hall stated the aim of ministry, “The goal of
preaching—making and maturing believers—should always be
kept in focus
when preparing and delivering sermons [and studying the Word
of God]. The task is not simply the communication of
information, but also the development of disciples.” In 2
Corinthians 2:4 Paul declares, “My speech and my preaching
were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in
demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that you faith
should not be in the
wisdom of men but in the power of God".
